Organist/Pianist Charles Long
Charles graduated from Varina High School in 1974. He participated in the concert and marching bands and also assisted J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College Spanish Club in his senior year with bass guitar support and traveled to many high schools for performances. He also participated in track and field, cross country and wrestling but his lifelong hobby has been weight lifting. He has been married to his high school sweetheart since 1978 and has two boys, Jason and Matthew, and three grandchildren, Jordyn, Chase and Blake. He is employed in Henrico County as a Deputy Sheriff. He has attended Hardy Central Baptist Church all his life and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the young age of 10. He serves as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and organist/pianist.
Mary has been serving as Music Director since 2001 and a lifetime member at Hardy Central Baptist Church. Falling in love with music at an early age she took piano lessons for 10 years and was a member of the band at Varina Schools playing clarinet in concert and marching bands and electric piano in stage band. She dreamed of being a drum major her senior year of high school and was asked to become the woodwind section leader instead. After college, Her dream of directing came true in January 2001 when “Miss Audrey” retired from playing. She works side by side with her brother, Charles Long in looking for ways to enhance, motivate, and inspire those in worship. She considers it a blessing and privilege to work with the members and the Choir at Hardy Central as she looks forward to the future.
